Litter Picking Map
For the Spring of 2025, I took on a temporary job as a Litter Crew Coordinator for UMN's Landcare department. In addition to leading a small crew of student workers and keeping the campus clean, I also used my design skills to develop a plan over 15 weeks that future litter picking crews can use, keeping in mind simplicity, flexibility, and clear communication of priorities. Whereas the previous plan coming into the job was more route based, I focused on dividing campus into regions that each had more precise data for how frequent to check them and how long it would take to do so, as well as having a table to record where litter was picked and gauge how long it's been since the last time. Here I show the progress leading up to my final map design.
